Human Resources

Group PG is totally committed to its global program and advocates management practices that respect people’s rights to work in a healthy and safe environment.

Group PG condemns all forms of abusive exploitation of human and environmental resources. Labour laws are very strict in this matter.

It is illegal to:

  1. Have a child do work disproportionate to his abilities or likely to adversely affect his education, health or development;
  2. Force a child who is supposed to attend school to work during school hours.

Unfortunately, many hardwood flooring manufacturers in emerging counties do not comply with these basic premises.

Each flooring board that you install from one of our plants was manufactured in compliance with rules of integrity, equality, safety and respect of human nature.

Being satisfied with observance of the strict legislation in effect in Canada and Quebec would be enough. However, our compliance is not limited to these rules alone. We exceed them.

Several in-house programs have been implemented to foster the best possible employee development. Upon their arrival, a welcoming and training process is set in motion to ensure their rapid integration and preparation to meet company standards and practices.

Pay equity is applied to all our employees. No employee is subject to unfair wage practices or bias based on gender, age or religious beliefs. The Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms of Quebec and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms of Canada are central to our concerns.

When the nature of a position allows the hiring of physically or mentally challenged individuals, we comply.

A family culture instilled since 1979 has resulted in close relations with employees, thereby facilitating the detection of problems that might emerge. When a problem is identified, we intervene immediately, providing support and resources needed to find a solution and put an end to objectionable situations.

We encourage respectful interpersonal communication.  By managing staff fairly, we avoid the forms of abuse regrettably so prevalent among unscrupulous manufacturers.

All our employees are protected in the workplace by compliance with stringent preventive measures promoted by the Commission de la Santé et de la Sécurité du Travail (CSST).

As stipulated under Article 59 of the law, the purpose of a prevention program is to eliminate sources of danger to health, safety and the physical integrity of workers at their source.

An in-house committee of workers participates actively in the development of an annual prevention program, ensuring the dissemination of its content on a regular basis to all members of our organization.

Our global program supporting respect of the environment and individuals operating within it goes beyond performance objectives and financial results. The end result of such a program must allow individual participants to accomplish their tasks in harmony. It must also encourage initiative and creativity leading to the innovation so very much in demand by end consumers of our products.

You are unique, and so are they! Encourage companies with a code of ethics. In doing so, you will contribute to building a better world: a world where the environment and mankind will be as one.
